Violin & Voice

How the dream began

Natalie Grace is a violinist based in Baltimore, Maryland. Her dream is to change the world’s perception of what a violinist is capable of by breaking their rules in the best way possible.

It all started the first time Natalie witnessed a group of violinists defy classical boundaries. These violinists played every genre. They danced. They sang. They engaged their audiences in ways she hadn’t known were possible. That was the moment Natalie knew she wanted to play a part in challenging the world’s perception of what a violinist is capable of.

As a Violin Performance Major on a full scholarship at the University of Delaware, Natalie studied under renowned violinist Xiang Gao. During her time as a student she performed with the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Pit Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles. As a sophomore, Natalie competed and won the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra competition. She spent the summer after her junior year interning with a Music Marketing Company in Los Angeles, where she lived her dream by experiencing the music industry up close and curating the social media presence of artists like Alessia Cara and Christina Perri.

Throughout her time as a classical violinist, Natalie has always explored and excelled in a variety of musical genres. During her high school years Natalie helped lead “Culmination,” a talented group of violinists that performed modern hits as well as new arrangements of classical pieces. She carried this leadership experience into college, where she started her own band, Caution To The Wind, in which she soloed on violin as well as voice.

In May of 2016, Natalie graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance and a minor in Music Management. She immediately accepted an offer to tour with Barrage 8, a memorable string octet that has been known worldwide to represent “a memorable presentation of music, from many genres and cascading generations, delivered in a way not seen or heard before.” After a year spent touring around the country and performing almost nightly with Barrage 8, Natalie returned to her hometown, fell in love, and relocated outside of Baltimore, Maryland with her new husband, Tyler.

In recent months, Natalie has begun gigging in the D.C, Baltimore and Newark area. Some of her notable performances include playing at the MGM Grand in National Harbor, D.C., and accompanying the Nashville-based Band Willow Hill at Frozen Harbour Fest in Baltimore and at Summerfest — the world’s biggest music festival — in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
